De Efteling Sprookjes Omnibus

Rubinstein, a Publisher in The Netherlands, contacted me via Irene Kunst, a former editor now, with an invitation to contribute to a new fairy tale compilation in collaboration with Efteling, one of the most famous theme parks in the Netherlands.

This book brings together different artists to illustrate classic fairy tales that correspond to the iconic attractions found throughout the park.
My task was to illustrate three stories for the omnibus:

Snow White
Pinocchio
The Gnome Village

The challenge

The biggest hurdle was the tight deadline: I had just one month from the initial proposal to deliver the final illustrations.

The solution

Seamless communication and swift feedback from the editor kept the project moving at a great pace. Despite the fast turnaround, I was given creative freedom to develop highly stylized, expressive illustrations that honored the classic tales while bringing my own visual voice to the book.

The final result

A beautifully printed fairy tale collection available in stores across the Netherlands and at the park itself, bringing classic stories to life for a new generation of children.
